The 3rd Pinelands Scout Group in the leafy suburb of Pinelands offers ADVENTURE, ACTIVITY, ACHIEVEMENT & FUN to all children from the ages of 7 to 18.
Working in small groups, in Sixes / Patrols, to develop leadership, group skills, and individual responsibility; Stimulating programmes : progressive activities based on the interests of young people. Activities in contact with nature, a rich learning environment where simplicity, creativity, and discovery come together to provide adventure and challenge.
3rd Pinelands Scout Group consists of two branches, a Cub Pack, (boys and girls 7 to 10 years), and a Scout Troop, (boys and girls 11 to 17 years), and both the Cub Pack and Scout Troop have a very rich youth development and advancement program which the youth follow throughout their Cubbing and Scouting trail.
The Cubs and Scouts meet during the school terms as follows:
- The Cub Pack meets on Friday evening from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
- The Scout Troop meets on Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Scouting is open to all regardless of race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by its founder Robert Baden-Powell. Membership is open to boys and girls over the age of seven years and to adults who accept the Aims and Methods of the Scout Movement and who make the Scout or Cub Promise.
The aim of the South African Scout Association is to encourage the spiritual, mental, social and physical development of the youth by Developing their character; Training them in citizenship; Developing their personal fitness by promoting their spiritual, mental and physical qualities; so that they may take a constructive part in the community.
The method underlying these activities involves Making a personal commitment to a simple code of living : The Promise and Law; Learning by doing - active participation with others.
